MERRIMACK, NH – Merrimack firefighters Keith Hines and Zachary McComb have been recognized with merit awards for taking quick action following a highway crash in Nashua last Summer.
On Aug 18, 2025, Hines and McComb were driving back from Nashua in an ambulance when they came upon the aftermath of a multi-vehicle collision on the Everett.
The two firefighters parked their ambulance near the crash and started to triage the vehicle occupants who were injured. They also called dispatch and Nashua emergency services for assistance. A teen driver was treated and transported to a hospital and an elderly driver was taken to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
The two Merrimack firefighters were recognized for going above and beyond the call of duty in their attempt to save the elderly driver.
