HILSBORO, N.H.– Police say a Hillsboro man wanted on an active warrant was taken into custody Thursday following a motor vehicle stop, but before being taken into custody was subdued by a K9 officer.

According to Police Brandon Garland, 39, was arrested as part of a joint operation.

During the stop police instructed Garland to exit his vehicle and walk backwards, with his hands in the air, but abruptly reached towards his waistband, turned to authorities, then extended his hands towards offices in a manner consistent with drawing a weapon.

This resulted in K9 officer Vought being deployed and subduing Garland.

After being taken into custody Police transported Garland to an area hospital for injuries incurred during his arrest.

A search of his vehicle resulted in Police finding numerous packages of controlled substances, including what authorities believe to be Fentanyl, Methamphetamine, Cocaine and prescription medications.

Following his arrest Garland was ordered held at the Hillsboro County House of Corrections, pending an arraignment.
