GREENVILLE, N.H.- The owners of Old Dutch Mustard have entered into an agreement with the state to address allegation it violated the Clean Water Act by polluting the Souhegan River.
According to court documents, the company will begin efforts to resolve allegations it was dumping acidic water into the river at its Greenville plant.
Federal prosecutors say the company has been subject of several enforcement actions by the EPA, the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services and the New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office due to a long history of CWA non-compliance issues dating back to the 1980s.
On a related note, this past April Charles Santich, 60, the owner of Old Dutch Mustard was sentenced to 18 months in prison after pleading guilty to illegally dumping polluted water into the Souhegan River and was ordered to pay a $1.5 million fine.
