MANCHESTER, N.H.- Officials from the Department of Health and Human Services say they’re working with the Justice Resource Institute to conduct a full assessment of the Sununu Youth Services Center and recommend changes.

Officials say the full assessment of the facility is underway and that they choose JRI because the group specializes in youth-in-trauma-informed care and juvenile justice and will analyze things like educational programming, health and safety, and staff recruitment and retention.

The review comes as DHHS Commissioner Lori Weaver goes before the Executive Council later today to ask for a 5% wage increase for staff.

The increase would affect 80 youth counselor and social worker positions at the facility and other positions in DCYF. The increase is only temporary, lasting through June 30, 2027.
