MANCHESTER, N.H.- Former State Rep, Stacie Laughton has been sentenced to 33 years in prison after pleading guilty to the sexual exploitation of children.

According to court documents, Laughton,41, who was born Barry Laughton, pleaded guilty in November to exchanging more than 1,000 texts with his former romantic partner Lindsay Groves of Hudson that included talks about and the transfer of, explicit photographs that Groves took of kids while working at a daycare in Tyngsborough Massachusetts.

Laughton was elected to the House three times but ended up resigning twice over legal issues and also made headlines for being the first transgender induvial elected to the New Hampshire House.

Laughton’s sentence comes after Groves was sentenced to 22 years in prison after pleading guilty to sexually exploiting children and distributing child pornography.
