MANCHESTER,NH.- A bill that would cap insulin at $35 per month is moving forward in Congress.

On Wednesday the INSULIN Act of 2026 cleared the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee on a vote of 18 to 4.

Following its progress New Hampshire’s Senor Senator and the bill’s main sponsor Sen. Jeanne Shaheen says she’s hopeful the committee’s support can convince Senate Majority Leader John Thune, R-South Dakota, to bring the matter to the full Senate prior to the midterms.

The bill however is receiving push back from the National Taxpayers Union, a conservative lobbying group, who’s was pushing Senate committee members to reject this legislation and other health care mandate measures over concerns it could pass costs onto patients through higher premiums.
