MANCHESTER, N.H.- The Queen City Bridge has been ordered closed until further notice after potential structural deficiencies were discovered.
According to Public Works officials on Monday crews from the State’s Transportation Department conducted a routine inspection, in which inspectors discovered rust and a possible crack in the truss under the bridge, but note that the issues do not appear to be connected to the neighboring tunnel project, or any recent work done on the bridge and that it’s still safe to drive under the bridge on I-293.
Following this news officials with Elliot Health system say those patients and visitors heading to the medical center should allow for extra time and consider taking an alternate route.
As for how this will impact kids who go to school in the area, officials with the Manchester School District say they’re currently reviewing just how the closure will impact bus schedules and commute times.
