Human remains found in water at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard

PORTSMOUTH, N.H. – Maine State Police have announced the discovery of Human remains in the ocean at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard.

According to Police, Portsmouth Naval Shipyard civilian divers conducting routine barge inspections found the human remains in the water near Berth 14, which is at Dry Dock 3 facing Kittery Foreside.

Police and Naval Criminal Investigative Service officials are investigating.

The remains will be taken to the Maine Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for identification
