Gov Ayotte signs law prohibiting the sale of children’s data

CONCORD NH

New Hampshire Gov. Kelly Ayotte has signed House Bill 1460 into law, the Law prohibits the sale of data for a child under the age of 13.

HB 1460 will ban businesses from selling a child’s online personal data to a third party in New Hampshire. It alters the existing statute that outlines how businesses can use consumer data.

Both New Hampshire and the federal government have laws aimed at limiting how businesses can use and sell the internet data of children.

The Law takes effect on Jan. 1, 2027
