MANCHESTER, N.H.- The former Manchester man found guilty in the death of a toddler who drowned in a hotel bathtub in 2019 wants to withdraw the plea that led to his conviction.

According to court documents Zachary Conway,30, originally plead no contest and was sentenced to 3½ to 10 years in prison after negotiating a deal with the Hillsborough County Attorney’s Office; but now Conway claims he’s innocent, and that his lawyer, urged him to take the first deal offered by the state.

Conway’s claim comes in a recent handwritten motion to withdraw the plea, in which he details how Mark Sisti pressured him to take the first deal offered, despite the fact that he says he’s innocent and comes as he’s currently serving time at a prison in Maine on unrelated charges.

Back on June 20, 2026, Conway plead no contest in the death of a 15-month-old after authorities said Conway placed her in a tub at an Econo Lodge on October 7, 2019, with her 2½-year-old sister, left the bathroom and then fell asleep.

Following the handwritten motion court authorities have yet to comment on if this matter and if it will be reviewed by a judge.
