MANCHESTER,N.H.- City officials say the completion of repairs to the eastbound lanes of the Amoskeag Bridge will be delayed for several months after crews found far more beam damage than anticipated.

According to officals with Manchester’s Department of Public Workds, the project will likely be pushed back and finished in the spring as the scope of damage calls for around six times as many repairs than originally anticipated. The decision comes after crews removing paint from the girders discovered additional section loss on the beams.

Further investigation ended up leading to the discovery that many more parts of the bridge required repairs than initially estimated.
