3-year-old recovering after accidentally shooting themself

MANCHESTER, N.H.- Police in Hooksett say a 3-year-old is recovering in a Boston hospital after accidentally shooting themself with a gun found inside a vehicle Wednesday evening.

According to police the child found the weapon inside a vehicle which was parked in the driveway of a home on Whitehall Road around 6:30 p.m.

Authorities say the child was then taken to Elliot Hospital with serious injuries and was then flown to a hospital in Boston.

At the moment officials don’t believe the child’s injuries are life threating.

Following this incident police say a criminal investigation is underway, but note that all of those involved are cooperating.

Police are also using this incident as a reminder on the importance of gun safety.
