Firefighters from New Hampshire got the call to help out efforts in Vermont from the widespread flooding there. Two crews from Manchester and Bedford were sent to help rescue people stuck in flood waters.
Tuesday evening the City of Manchester Fire Department received an Emergency
Management Assistance Compact (EMAC) request from the State of Vermont to deploy a Type III Swiftwater Search & Rescue Team, consisting of eight personnel, three boats, and support vehicles. According to a press release, the team left the city at 8:30 PM yesterday and arrived in Berlin, Vermont where they were
immediately deployed to the City of Montpelier to begin search and rescue operations.
According to the New Hampshire National Guard, two Black Hawk helicopters, each with a four-man crew including medics, were also sent to assist in Vermont.
Yesterday, Governor Chris Sununu along with the state Director of Homeland Security toured storm damage to Forest Lake Dam in Winchester.
