The Department of Health and Human Services is working to improve responses to crisis calls made to 988, the national suicide and crisis lifeline. Currently, two lifeline centers in the state provide immediate help by phone, text, or chat. As the state sees an increase in calls, officials are looking to expand and strengthen the program. DHHS has received 15 proposals from vendors interested in assisting with these improvements. All contracts must be approved by the Governor and the Executive Council.
