MANCHESTER, N.H- Former Youth Development Center employee Stephen Murphy has been found not guilty of being an accomplice to aggravated felonious sexual assault by a Hillsborough County jury.

Thursday’s verdict comes after Murphy testified Wednesday during which he maintained his innocence before closing arguments got underway.

Following Murphy’s testimony Prosecutors claimed the assault was about teaching the victim a lesson after he stole an item from an auto shop where he worked back in the 1990s, while the defense called the victim’s claims a “house of cards” not supported by witnesses’ testimony.

According to court documents Murphy is facing a fourth trial in a separate case connected to another case of alleged abuse at the Youth Development Center.
