As those frozen turkeys thaw out and we prep for the big day tomorrow – some advice from the State Fire Marshal’s office. Yesterday, along with Dover Fire & Rescue and the American Red Cross, they gave a live demonstration on fire safety while cooking. Officials reminded everyone that fires involving cooking oil should not be extinguished with water. They say have a lid nearby to place over the pot to cut off the oxygen supply. The State Fire Marshal says water is ok for paper and combustibles. According to fire officials, home cooking fires are one of the leading causes of residential fires and often result from unattended cooking.
