House fire on Route 132 in Canterbury reaches 2-alarms

CANTERBURY, NH – Firefighters from Canterbury along with members of the Belknap and Merrimack departments battled a 2-alarm fire Tuesday afternoon at a home on Southwest Road.

Fire officials say once on scene crews noticed “heavy fire” venting from a two-car garage under the home and up the side of the garage, with flames stretching some 20 feet above the roof line.

The homeowners were able to evacuate safely and no injuries were reported.

While the home is being called a total loss, officials say a cause is still under investigation.
