The National Weather Service has confirmed blizzard conditions in Portsmouth and Rochester yesterday.

For a blizzard to be confirmed, there must be frequent wind gusts of 35 mph accompanied by falling or blowing snow that reduces visibility to less than a quarter of a mile for three consecutive hours.

The strongest wind gust recorded in Portsmouth Monday was 47 mph.
