CONCORD, N.H.- More than a dozen people have been charged and five have pleaded guilty in a conspiracy to smuggle guns from New England into Canada.

Officials said some of the guns have turned up at violent scenes linked to organized crime.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office said the ring allegedly moved dozens of guns from New Hampshire into Canada.

According to the U.S. Attorney, members of the operation recruited buyers in Keene and Vermont to get firearms for people who were prohibited from owning them or wanted to hide their identities.
