TROY, N.H.- The State Fire Marshal’s office says one person is dead and another is being treated for serious injuries following an early morning fire at home on Morse St.

According to authorities at 1:45 Tuesday morning Firefighters answered a call at 51 Morse St after receiving a 911 call for a fire that reportedly started in the chimney and extended to the home’s front porch.

A short time later an additional 911 call came in from someone saying they were trapped inside the home, which lead to firefighters on scene quickly entering the home and bringing two people out.

Once free of the burning residence crews began providing immediate emergency medical treatment and then transported a unidentified 56-year-old man to Cheshire Medical Center in Keene where he was pronounced dead, while an unidentified 24-year-old woman was taken by helicopter to Massachusetts General Hospital with serious injuries, who remains listed in critical condition.

Investigators also note that the family’s pets also perished in the blaze.

At the moment investigators don’t have reason to believe the fire is suspicious and are encouraging anyone with information related to this investigation to please contact the State Fire Marshal’s office.
